Job Description:
Cardiac Imaging: Utilize ultrasound equipment to perform echocardiograms, which involve capturing detailed images of the heart chambers, valves, walls, and blood vessels to assess cardiac anatomy, function, and blood flow patterns.
Transducer Manipulation: Expertly maneuver ultrasound transducers to obtain optimal imaging views of the heart from different angles and orientations, including standard two-dimensional (2D), Doppler, and color Doppler imaging techniques.
Diagnostic Interpretation: Analyze echocardiographic images to identify abnormalities, such as structural defects, valvular disorders, cardiomyopathies, congenital heart defects, and abnormalities in cardiac function or blood flow dynamics.
Stress Echocardiography: Perform stress echocardiograms, which involve imaging the heart before and after exercise or pharmacological stress to evaluate myocardial ischemia, viability, and overall cardiac function under stress conditions.
Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE): Conduct transesophageal echocardiograms using a specialized probe inserted into the esophagus to obtain high-resolution images of the heart and great vessels, particularly for assessing cardiac anatomy, valves, and prosthetic devices with enhanced clarity.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and other healthcare providers to interpret echocardiographic findings, contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment planning, and provide real-time imaging guidance during cardiac procedures and interventions.
Patient Care and Education: Interact with patients to explain echocardiography procedures, address concerns, and ensure patient comfort and cooperation during examinations. Provide education to patients and their families regarding cardiac conditions, diagnostic tests, and treatment options.
Documentation and Reporting: Document echocardiography findings accurately in medical records, including images, measurements, and interpretation notes. Communicate findings promptly to referring physicians and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient management strategies.
Quality Assurance and Equipment Maintenance: Adhere to quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of echocardiographic studies. Perform routine maintenance tasks, calibrations, and equipment checks to optimize imaging quality and equipment performance.
Continuing Education and Professional Development: Stay abreast of advancements in echocardiography technology, imaging protocols, and clinical guidelines through continuing education activities, professional conferences, and participation in relevant professional organizations.
