The Mental Health Co-Responder ( Mon-Fri Days Main Campus) will ensure that each clients undergoing a mental health crisis receives the proper person-centered treatment that they need. To do this they will work with the local police and other emergency personnel to ensure the proper treatment is given to our client.

What we're looking for:

Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or other Behavioral Health related field
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Crisis Intervention or behavioral health required
Knowledge of community resources, crisis de-escalation/intervention techniques (preferred)
An understanding of trauma informed, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based practices (preferred).
Experience with populations receiving behavioral health treatment, including services performed with individuals with MI/SMI, SUD's, neurodiverse conditions, and psychosocial needs (poverty, homelessness, justice involvement, etc.). (preferred)

What you'll be doing:

Ensure that consumers receive compassionate, focused, and person-centered treatment with the scope of practice regulations governing the CMHC's, including the use of evidence-based and trauma-focused practices.
Co-responders will be paired with local police department CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Officers to co-respond to mental health crisis calls.
Provide an alternative to responding to MH crises calls and care to alleviate burden on police officers, emergency rooms and jails.
Work with the Huntsville Police Department's CIT Officers to co-respond to mental health crisis calls to ensure that consumers receive compassionate, focused, and person-centered treatment with the scope of practice regulations governing the CMHC's, including the use of evidence-based practices.
Problem solve and provide crisis intervention services with consumers, officers, and other emergency personnel to provide individuals and families in crisis an alternative to involvement with jails, emergency rooms, and further law enforcement involvement.
Increase access to treatment for those in a mental health crisis while providing linkage to community resources and transportation as required to the Crisis Diversion Center.
