Job Title: Mortgage Loan Assistant/Processor

Department: 40 – Lending

Reports To: Loan Operations Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary

This position assists in the day-to-day management of the mortgage loan portfolio by providing administrative internal and external support for the Mortgage Lending team and works directly with customers, loan officer and everyone involved to keep the loan process moving efficiently and provide excellent customer service.

  • Supports Mortgage Loan officers with pipeline and customer follow up for missing information.
  • Coordinates loan paperwork ensuring it is complete and signed appropriately.
  • Orders Credit Reports, Appraisals, Title Reports, Property Insurance, and other supporting credit checks throughout the loan process.
  • Prepares Loan Estimates and early disclosures according to regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews title insurance commitments and exceptions, providing feedback on errors or omissions.
  • Follows up with customers to obtain all necessary information and clarification on applicable documentation, materials, and resources.
  • Corresponds directly with escrow to close real estate transactions.
  • Prepares loan documents and closing disclosures according to regulatory compliance timelines.
  • Reviews loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to approval conditions, occasionally providing recommendations for language to include in the loan documents if appropriate.
  • Coordinates loan signing dates with clients, any applicable third parties and Loan Officers if needed, and may be required to handle loan signing with business loan clients on behalf of the Officer.
  • Scans all necessary financial and loan documents in imaging.
  • Processes loan payments and funding advances, resolves customer problems, tracks insurance payments/taxes/escrow payments, research loan issues and completes necessary reporting.
  • Ensures all work is completed accurately while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of mortgage loan documents and the variety of Mortgage platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of the regulatory compliance involved with Mortgage lending; TRID including the timetable applied to each document.
  • Ability to work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment as well as work independently without considerable supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt quickly to a change in priorities/tasks and a willingness to accept additional responsibilities as opportunities arise.
  • Requires basic arithmetic skills, knowledge of operational procedures, practices, and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal policies, procedures, and laws regarding lending.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Four or more years’ experience in a financial institution processing mortgage loans.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to view computer screens, remain in a stationary position, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a multi-line telephone, copy machine, scanner, fax, and computer printer. The employee needs to frequently communicate with internal and external contacts and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment

  • Climate controlled business office environment.
  • Ability to work in artificial light for extended periods of time.
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions and frequent interruptions during the day.
  • This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week.
  • Work requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule with willingness to work a flexible and/or rotating schedule and/or extended hours, as needed.

Travel Required

  • Minimal (5%-10%) local, non-overnight travel.

Job Type: Full-time in person

Pay Range: $26.44 - $32.69 per hour
