Position Summary
The Residential Specialist will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Seattle Inpatient Services. The Residential Specialist responsibilities include ensuring property and resident safety, collaborating with program staff to reinforce behavior expectations and support resident goals. This position requires overnight hours during the weekdays and weekends and includes shift differential hours.
Essential Job Functions
The employee must have the ability to:
· Work with a variety of individuals in a residential treatment facility.
· Demonstrate effective engagement skills with individuals who have experienced trauma, homelessness, and related challenges.
· Assist with facility safety and cleanliness. Communicate with facilities and safety staff as needed.
· Keep records and provide Residential Inpatient staff with essential information pertinent to the safety of residents and building operations.
· Additional duties as assigned.
- Assist with monitoring medication self-administration accordingly as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
· Must obtain a Counselor Agency Affiliated registration within 30 days of employment.
· High School diploma, Associate’s, or bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Preference given to qualified chemical dependency professional or peer mentor in training.
Experience:
· Understanding of and familiarity with addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery.
· Ability to work independently and as a team member.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals and a diverse client population.
· Experience working in a medical or residential setting preferred.
- One (1) year of experience working with clients in behavioral health services or in a residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be eligible to become a WA State Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor at minimum
- On-call staff must work at least three shifts per month, one being a weekend.
- On-call staff must work at least one major and one minor holiday per calendar year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Familiarity with issues related to homelessness and substance use.
· Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries.
· Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision.
· Good communication skills, teamwork, and attitude.
· Multicultural awareness.
· Ability to adapt; flexibility.
· Available to work shifts on short notice.
Other:
· Pass required background checks.
Working Conditions
Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 40 pounds. May be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee is sitting, most of the time. Employee is also required to stand, walk, type, bend, write, read, interpret, and explain complex issues and speak on the telephone.

1 = Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
2 = Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, but employment may require performing
unplanned Category 1 procedures.
3 = Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue and Category 1 tasks are not a condition for
employment.
