Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, this position is considered safety sensitive. Safety-sensitive is defined as a job that includes operation of a motor vehicle, equipment, machinery, or power tools.

General Summary:

This position installs, maintains and services customer premises equipment. This includes performing initial wiring or rewiring of subscriber systems, copper, or fiber plant, broadband and broadband enhancing products, and services.

The normal hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, including a Saturday rotation with occasional overtime and will be on call via a rotating on-call schedule. This position will report to the Local Manager in Seiling, OK.

Residence Requirements: This position is required to reside within 30 minutes of the boundaries of the local exchange.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Installs new services and equipment for subscribers involving aerial and buried drop wires, station protectors and network interface devices using appropriate tools and test equipment under the supervision of Local Manager or LSA.
  • Completes all installation and repair related forms and reports in an accurately and timely manner under the Managers supervision.
  • Learns the use of appropriate test equipment for both inside and outside copper and fiber plant, customer gateways, and WiFi.
  • Communicates well with customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions and/or explains the use of new equipment or features installed.
  • Places buried and aerial fiber cable by operating a variety of equipment.
  • Installs and repairs router solutions for home networking, new television applications and associated equipment.
  • Becomes familiar with the installation of fiber ONT's and splicing of fiber drops.
  • Begins training with iVUE software.
  • Learns to maintain inventory stock levels on company assigned vehicle.
  • Begins training with CPE Support Cloud Services and ANTX.
  • Responds to after hour emergency call out via rotating on call schedule.
  • Required to work in other locations determined by customer driven workload.
  • Commits to performing job duties in a manner that ensures a safe work environment.
  • Promote Operation IDEA initiatives, encourage and support continual process improvement and cultivate an environment where employees are actively engaged in creating positive and memorable customer experiences.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Completes timesheet daily.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three months related experience and/or training.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and a valid driver license.
  • Satisfactorily completed six (6) months of a Combination Technician I. (Tech II)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic electronics, color codes, and electrical wiring techniques.
  • Represent Pioneer in a professional image and maintain a strong presence in their communities.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication construction and cable installation practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of company products/services, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to splice copper and fiber cable.
  • Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge in operating a personal computer and software applications pertaining to job function.
  • Skill in prioritizing, completing multiple projects, identifying problems, and finding resolutions.
  • Employees are required to wear company issued uniform while on duty. Jackets/coats and ball caps must have a company logo and jeans/pants must be appropriate.
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing technical environment.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, contractors, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to handle angry or confused customers.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player and project a positive attitude.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, perform under stress and achieve optimum results.
  • Ability to read and interpret various formats of English language instruction.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with company policy.
  • Ability to demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
  • Able and willing to continue business skill development including attending training away from home for an extended time frame.
  • Able and willing to be on call and work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity including close vision.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, dig ditches, reach overhead and work in a confined area.
  • Ability to work in all-weather environments.
  • Must be able to be active for 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to climb and stand on a ladder for extended periods.
  • Must be able to crawl in attics and under houses.
  • Must be able to walk on open ceiling joists in new construction pre-wires at varying heights.
  • Must be able to operate a bucket truck, the maximum weight limit to safely operate a bucket truck is 285 lbs.
  • Able to drive for extended periods.
  • Able to learn and apply pole-climbing techniques.
  • Able to work around insects and reptiles, on occasion.
