Senior Financial Reporting Analyst (Accounting)

This position will also oversee the firm’s annual budget process as well as the preparation of periodic forecasts throughout the year, aiding in providing analysis and recommendations to address improvements/changes required to help improve the firm’s financial results relative to its budget.

This position will also be responsible for certain general accounting functions including accounts payable and weekly cash projections provided to senior management both of which will aid in analyzing the firm’s financial results including budget variances. This position will also interact with the firm’s various banking relationships on matters of cash management, banking services and compliance.

The position has supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Using the financial system reports and other financial information, supports the Chief Financial Officer as the main point of contact for:
Preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.
Providing department contacts with assistance in identifying and analyzing budget variances.
Identifying financial trends which require the attention of firm practice groups and senior management.
Works closely with the firm’s billing department and practice groups to help to resolve accounting issues that may arise.
Acts as lead to provide support and analysis to the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Operating Officer and firm management in the preparation and interpretation of Company’s financial results.
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in providing training and guidance to accounting staff to ensure they continue their professional development.
In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, identifies opportunities for improvement in the financial reporting process, and develops, implements, and manages project plans to implement change.
Provides support and assistance to the firm’s outside auditors and tax preparer in the preparation of the firm’s audit and filing of tax returns.
Performs other duties as assigned including ad hoc financial analysis utilizing data available within Aderant and the firm’s financial dashboard to present selective information.
Work with practice groups and the firm’s marketing and business development department to identify and interpret internal financial data in support of business development opportunities.

Ability to build relationships and effectively interact with other accounting and non-accounting departments including senior management.
Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple, concurrent tasks, as well as the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment to meet strict deadlines.
Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to perform complex calculations, understand accounting impact and implications of transactions and perform complex reconciliations of large volumes of data.

A strong knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Office is required including an advanced working knowledge of Excel to perform complex calculations as described above.

Experience with Aderant, accounting software utilized by law firms, and/or budgeting software is a plus.
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills are required.
A demonstrated track record over a 5-10 - year period of increasing responsibility and related results.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
A CPA or MBA is a plus
