Position Summary: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions and play a key role in the month-end close process, posting many critical month-end journal entries and performing vital account reconciliations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Reconcile and record monthly bank activity
• Upload checks to the bank via the banking platform
• Prepare various journal entries for monthly close
• Prepare and upload the monthly premium and loss activity
• Assist with other month-end closing duties as assigned
• Intercompany allocations, reconciliations and settlements
• Prepare state income tax and various other accruals
• Maintain supporting schedules for various accounts
• Assist with special projects or reports, as needed

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, major in accounting or finance
• No accounting experience required, this is an entry-level position

Skills

• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (including: pivot tables and vlookup).
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Problem analysis and resolution skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, follow through, and meet deadlines.
• QuickBooks and Tableau familiarity ideal, but not required.
