Overview:
The Art Department Lab Assistant- Skokie Student Employee will provide students in the Drawing/Painting studio with Open Studio time, help maintain a clean and organized studio, assist in preparation of still life objects, prep room for model usage, answer the phone and perform other job-related duties as assigned. The student employee will monitor the studio and help ensure that safe practices are being followed when the instructor is not present. Only students with experience taking drawing and/or painting courses will be considered.

Monday- Thursday mornings to afternoon. 5-15 hours per week.
Schedule Flexibility:
Student schedule will fluctuate based on what assignments are accepted/refused. Once accepted, students are expected to follow through with their determined schedule with minimal adjustments.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes :
- Work with instructor to create various still life setups for Drawing/Painting classes (CD)
- Monitor studio and make sure that safety practices are being followed (LD)
- Serve as a resource person to students utilize the Drawing/Painting Studio (CM, LD)
- Work with Art Department staff and students employees to collect and set up artwork for art exhibitions (TW, CD)
- Help prepare needed materials for demonstrations and general student usage (CD)

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Other abilities):
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton Community College.
- Must be making satisfactory progress as defined by Oakton's Standards of Academic Progress policy toward achieving their educational goals.
-Must have some experience with art have taken at least a high school level drawing or painting course.
- Students enrolled in Drawing/Painting classes at Oakton College during the semester they are employed are always preferred.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Employment over the summer is allowed for new students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester.
- Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
- Must be friendly, flexible, organized, courteous, and punctual.
