Easterseals is a non-profit organization that provides essential services and support to individuals with disabilities and their families.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Respite Camp Leader to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care and support to campers with disabilities during our weekend respite programs. You will lead a team of staff members in creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where campers can build independence, develop new skills, and make lasting memories.

Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Provide direction, support, and coaching to team members. Recruit, train, and ensure the team is staffed with qualified individuals.
  • Respite Weekend Management: Assist with pre-camp preparations, including creating schedules, assigning campers and staff to cabins, and maintaining appropriate staff-to-camper ratios. Serve as the on-site leader during respite weekends (one weekend per month).
  • Program Development & Implementation: Develop and lead engaging and inclusive camp activities that cater to the individual needs and interests of the campers.
  • Camper Care: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all campers throughout the program. This includes providing personal care as needed, administering medications, and addressing any behavioral concerns.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to families, addressing questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Collaboration: Maintain open communication with respite client case managers and collaborate with area groups and volunteers to create innovative programming.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in quality control measures to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Community Engagement: Represent Easterseals at assigned community meetings.

You are a great fit for this role if you have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, family services, social work, or special education (preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a camp setting and developing engaging programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • A passion for working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
