Summer Fun Counselor

The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department is in search of energetic and fun-loving applicants for multiple part-time, temporary positions to operate the 2026 Summer Camps.

The City of Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nation's capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000 people). The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.

  • Responsibilities
    Counselors are needed to assist the Summer Fun Director in operating the Summer Fun Playground program for children ages 5 through 12. Counselors are responsible for daily supervision of all campers, organization of daily activities, and enforcement of all camp policies and procedures.
  • Qualifications
    Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Courses completed in child development and experience leading childrenโ€™s playgroups are desired. Applicants must have or be willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification before June 15, 2026.
  • Hours
    The Counselors work 25 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, June 15 through August 7, 2026. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Salary
    The rate starts at $17.50 per hour with no benefits.
