Worship Leader Job Description

REPORTS TO: Creative Arts Pastor

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Salaried 

HOURS WORKED: 40 Hours, including weekends

OVERVIEW

Calvary PSL is a growing church dedicated to helping people of all ages become lifelong followers of Christ. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Worship Leader to join our team. Responsibilities include leading worship, overseeing the worship team, and working with church staff to accomplish the church's mission. Candidates should have music, ministry, and leadership experience. High-level vocal ability is a must. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and Coordinate Worship Gatherings

Plan, prepare, and lead worship gatherings, ensuring a spiritually engaging and meaningful experience for the church community.

Select Songs and Arrange Sets

Appropriately select music that aligns with the theme and purpose of each gathering. Arrange songs to create a cohesive and impactful worship flow.

Lead Rehearsals

Coordinate and lead rehearsals with musicians, vocalists, and other worship team members to ensure a polished and synchronized worship experience.

Provide Musical Direction and Guidance

Give clear direction to musicians and vocalists during rehearsals and worship gatherings, ensuring proper dynamics, timing, and musical interpretation.

Foster a Spirit of Worship

Create an atmosphere that encourages and facilitates worship. Lead congregational singing, modeling a heartfelt and authentic expression of praise and adoration to glorify God.

Collaborate with Worship Team Members

Work closely with musicians, choirs, and production teams to ensure seamless coordination during church gatherings. Provide leadership and guidance to foster teamwork and unity.

Coordinate with Production Teams

Collaborate with audio, lighting, and visual teams to ensure the technical aspects of worship during church gatherings. This can include sound levels, stage lighting, and projection, enhancing the worship experience.

Continuously Develop Musical Skills and Knowledge

Stay updated with current worship music trends and techniques. Expand musical repertoire and skillset to bring variety and excellence to worship gatherings. Use instrumental music, knowledge of music theory, and more.

Support and Mentor Worship Team Members

Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to worship team members, encouraging their spiritual growth, musical development, and personal well-being. This includes worship team members in Next Gen ministries. 

Participate in Worship Planning Meetings

Attend worship planning meetings with the senior pastor, pastoral staff, and other team members to contribute ideas, share feedback, and collaborate on the schedule and themes of upcoming church services.

Engage in Ongoing Spiritual Growth

Cultivate a growing relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and spiritual disciplines. Continually seek personal and spiritual growth to lead others in worship effectively.

REQUIREMENTS

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital growing personal relationship with Him.
• Complete agreement with the theology, mission, and methods of Calvary PSL.
• Prior experience leading worship in a church setting.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time well.
• Proficiency in vocals.
• Proficiency in acoustic guitar or piano.
• Proficiency in programs such as Pro Presenter and Ableton Live.
• Proficiency in mixing down tracks. 
• Working knowledge of audio, visual, and lighting equipment and software.
