In-House Medical Biller (Psychiatry)

We are a fast-paced psychiatry practice with multiple providers that have an immediate opening and need for an experienced medical biller (at least 2 years of experience but will make exceptions with the right qualifications). We are looking for someone who is personable and detail-oriented. On top of regular billing responsibilities, the biller must be able to audit and analyze billing data, identify current or past issues, and identify resolutions to optimize office billing processes. The biller will report directly to the Practice Manager. Experience with PracticeSuite or AllScripts is preferred but not required.

Must know Nevada insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans are required. Must have experience with insurance verification, ensuring accurate posting of charges daily, payments, liaising and reporting with insurance, working on denials, accounts receivable, patient interaction be the point of contact for their billing inquiries.

Responsibilities and desired qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Review outstanding aging claims report
• Review/resolve all claim denials with reconsideration/appeals and phone calls to insurance companies
• Verify eligibility and benefits 
• Prepare, review, and mail physical and electronic billing statements
• Submit claims to insurance companies
• Act as point of contact for patient phone calls regarding billing and have ability to explain financial responsibility to the patient
• Contact patients as necessary to update insurance as needed for corrected claim billing
• Collect and manage patient account payments
• Correspondence and appeal denials done in a timely manner with pro-active follow-up on appeals in process
• Organize, research and prepare appeals
• Identify past-due bills and be responsible for retrieving them
• Experience and knowledge in medical billing/collection and coding practices
• Understanding of CPT/ICD-10 codes
• Ability to read and comprehend Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
• Highly organized and self-sufficient in time management 
• Represent the practice respectfully and interact with others with grace
• Excellent phone etiquette and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of PracticeSuite or AllScripts preferred
• Knowledge of Excel, Gmail, and other standard office software and functions 
• Previous substance abuse and/or mental health experience is highly desirable but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Monday-Friday, in-person
