Hob Maker (Die Maker) - Rotating or 2nd Shift

We are looking for a team member who has a knack for producing high-precision components and has great attention to detail and accuracy! 

We have an opening for a Hob Maker (Die Maker) at our Elizabeth Tooling - McKeesport, PA facility. A Hob Maker is responsible for crafting precision hobs used in cold forming in the development of rotary press punches. These hobs require strict adherence to tolerances and finish quality. Our rotary punches are then used to compress powders into the desired tablet form in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food tablet manufacturing industries.

Job Responsibilities:

• Be able to interpret and follow detailed records of punch designs, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures.
• Operate a CNC Mill to create the rough hob from bar stock holding tolerances to within 0.001”.
• Perform the hand-finishing process to complete the final feature dimensions using a visual comparator and microscope while holding the tolerances to within 0.001” and meeting or exceeding the finish requirements.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on hobs to maximize their lifespan and efficiency.
• Work closely with production teams to address any hob-related issues to optimize the punch manufacturing processes.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Job Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in tool and die-making precision machining, or a related field is preferred.
  
• A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in CNC milling, hob making, or precision tool and die manufacturing is desired.
  
• Effective communication skills to work closely with production teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimize punch-and-die manufacturing processes
  
• Attention to detail to identify and rectify any deviations or defects in the die manufacturing process.
  
• Troubleshooting capabilities to address any punch-related issues promptly and the ability to provide input and recommendations for hob improvements.
  

Pay: The hourly range is between $30-36/hr based on your education, skills, and experience. 2nd shift offers a $3.00 shift differential!

Schedule Availability: 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm and 2nd shift Monday - Friday 3:00 pm -11:00 pm. Overtime and Saturdays may be required based on production levels.
