The Structures Lead plays a pivotal role as both a mechanic and a leader within their crew. Tasked with directing, assigning, and approving the work of crew members, Structures Leads are chosen for their technical expertise and leadership qualities.
Responsibilities:
- Document aircraft parts/components removal with valid service orders and operation numbers, ensuring proper work scope identification.
- Oversee own work and that of the assigned crew, ensuring adherence to estimated hours.
- Train and certify crew members to maintain professional standards.
- Conduct toolbox inspections and in-process audits.
- Track and manage budgets, addressing any discrepancies.
- Participate in aircraft investigations and corrective action development.
- Maintain detailed shift turnover reports and attendance records.
- Assist in performance evaluations and training needs assessments.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and specifications.
- Provide guidance and assistance to fellow employees.
- Act as a representative of the repair station when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate, FAA Airframe certificate, or eligibility for an FAA Repairman certificate with Structures limitation.
- Own tools as per company tool list.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience as an aircraft mechanic on heavy transport category aircraft or one (1) year demonstrated ability within Global Employment Taskforce (GET).
- Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear safety equipment.
- Compliance with DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Preferred:
- Previous supervisory experience.
