Position Description: Caliola's Radio Frequency (RF) Engineers support the development of novel wireless communications and RF sensor technologies and products. At Caliola, RF engineers are problem solvers who enjoy solving hard technical problems quickly and creativity and applying innovative approaches to solve technical challenges. You will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists and mathematics supporting our customers and push the leading edge of RF communication technologies. RF Engineers work independently or under supervision across multiple projects within multiple business areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test RF hardware for wireless radio and RF sensor applications.
  • Architect functional performance tests using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Select equipment and construct tests to evaluate designs to specifications.
  • Generate schematics and board layouts.
  • Design and implement RF board bring up procedures.
  • Develop system link budgets.
  • Develop and execute RF test plans.
  • Work cross-functionally with system engineering and firmware/software groups.
  • Provide regular progress updates to other team members and leadership.
  • Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in solving complex and difficult system design requirements and problems.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design requirements, specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
  • Assume a team lead role for the work group.
  • Assist in generating proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we require:


**Minimum Skills & Requirements**

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience solving technical problems and troubleshooting in the areas of RF circuit design
  • Experience with RF circuit design software.
  • Experience with RF analysis tools
  • Experience with schematic capture
  • Experience with standard RF lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.).
  • Familiarity with designing analog filters, power amplifiers, tuning circuits, clock distribution circuits.
  • Experience in developing radio systems from functional and simulation models.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. Security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.
  • Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally.

**Demonstrated Qualifications/Skillsets**

  • Ability and willingness to work in a team setting.
  • Awareness of relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices in RF design and safety
  • Proven track record of being resourceful and creative, and willing to contribute to a multidisciplinary and face-paced engineering environment
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
  • Experience in leading and working with a team through project development with excellent communication skills with ability to be adaptable and creative

What We Value:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with wireless digital communication systems, in particular modern digital modulation techniques and modem design.
  • Experience designing/testing software defined radio (SDR) systems or radars.
  • Experience in antenna theory, design, and practical knowledge with focus on HF systems.
  • Experience integrating SDR components with external systems and software.
  • Experience with mechanical/thermal design.
  • Self-starter and a problem solver; must have the ability to see the big picture and implement changes as required.
  • A thirst for knowledge and a willingness to learn and teach others.
