Job Description for Optometric Technician
Greet and welcome patients from the waiting room and escort to pre-testing area. Once in pre-testing area obtain history, chief complaint. Perform visual acuity, aided/non-aided. Perform autorefraction and refraction with Epic system. Instill dilation drops, if required. Perform photos: Optos and /or Eidon system. Take optic pressure.
Take patient into exam room and prepare data in EHR in preparation for physician examination. Enter data into EHR as physician performs examination, including procedure and diagnosis codes.
Upon completion of examination, escort patient to check out area or optical area, relaying all pertinent information.
Order contact lenses/trial contact lenses for patients. Contact lens instruction-assisting patients with insertion/removal of contact lenses.
Prior authorizations for patient's prescriptions, return patient messages.
Clean exam rooms and clinical area throughout the day.
Technician will also be required to perform visual fields, OCT's/IOP's.
