Eye care professionals may also recommend additional assessments or modifications for patients with cognitive impairments.

As an optometric assistant, it is important to note that eye tests for glaucoma are typically not free and are billed through insurance or paid out-of-pocket. Optometric Assistants in busy practices often juggle multiple tasks, such as scheduling appointments, conducting pre-examination tests, managing patient records, and assisting with eyewear selection. Additionally, assistants must communicate effectively with both patients and optometrists to ensure a smooth workflow. Learning to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and staying organized can help overcome these challenges.
