Seeking an exciting opportunity, then look no further! We are hiring staff for the Afterschool program in the Princeton School District.

The Assistant Teacher supports and assists the Head Site Supervisor in all aspects of the Afterschool program. The Assistant Teacher's specific duties include, but not limited to:

Curriculum

  • Assist head site supervisor develop and implement planned activities.
  • Supports in the implementation of all After School Program activities.
  • Maintains an up to date list of inventory site supplies.
  • Implements assigned duties by the Head Site Supervisor and/or After School Program Coordinator.
  • On a rotational basis with other assistants, plan and leads an activity/club.

Records

  • Assist with student attendance records with the Head Site Supervisor.
  • Maintains count of daily snacks served in the absence of the Head Site Supervisor.
  • Assists and submits incident reports in the absence of the Head Site Supervisor

Professional Work Environment

  • Supports and encourages the Head Site Supervisor in their efforts to establish a well-planned, structured, and nurturing environment for the children and the staff.
  • Appropriately responds to children's intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs.
  • Supports and encourages positive group dynamics by being an active role model as a team player rather than an observer.
  • Provides positive discipline in accordance with the YWCA After School Program policies.

Other Obligations

  • Attends and participates in staff orientation, site meeting, monthly staff meetings and parent orientation.
  • Implements duties as assigned by the Head Site Supervisor and/or After School Program Coordinator.

5. Work Hours (P/T Position Less Than 40 Hour Per Week)

Regular School Week 2:30 - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday

Early Dismissal Days 12:30 - 6:00 PM

School Vacations/ Full Days 7:15 AM - 6:00 PM

Preparation and Planning 2.5 hours/week

  • It is expected that the Assistant Teacher will arrive before the students in order to help prepare the room and materials when scheduled.
  • Personal vacations should not be planned to coincide ASP will full-day programming. Amount of hours a teacher works during a full day is based upon anticipated student enrollment for that day.
  • Assistant Teachers are strongly urged not to take month long vacations, understanding that position can be filled permanently in their absence.
  • All teachers should conduct themselves in a professional manner and be respectful towards teaching staff, students, parents, and ASP administrative staff.
  • Staff meetings and in-service training may be compensated if pre-approved by the After School Program Coordinator.

Physical Demands

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
