Material Handlers are responsible for working under the guidance of Reactor Operators for the purpose of staging material for preparation of chemical batch production, moving raw materials from the warehouse to designated staging areas, unloading hazardous and non-hazardous raw materials into reactors and other non-routine duties as assigned. This is an entry level position, where you will be trained to advance into a Reactor Operator. The facility operates 24/7 on a rotating 12 hour shift schedule. There are four (4) shifts, each with 11 trained individuals from Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager, Reactor Operators, Filterman, and Material Handler. The shift schedule is 6 weeks on days (6:45AM – 7PM), then 6 weeks on nights (6:45PM – 7AM). Shifts worked follows a 2-3-2 orientation, where each shift works 7 days out of a 14 day period with built in overtime.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Pull raw materials from storage and stage according to batch sheets
- Double check accuracy of quantity and description of raw materials to ensure quality
- Dress in full PPE (Tyvek suit, full face respirator, chemical gloves, hard hat, steel toed boots) to load Super Sacks, 52lb bags, and suck up liquid from drums into reactors
- follow all safety procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for various tasks.
- keep all working areas clean, neat and organized
Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Handling: Move non-bulk raw materials (bags, super sacks, drums, totes, etc.) from warehouse using propane-powered forklifts and transport within production plant spaces; prepare daily production batches; load raw materials into reactors. Will be required to lift/push/shift materials manually or using forklift. Conduct/Maintain Warehouse inventory, general housekeeping, organization of warehouse and 5S.

Drumming: Safely load semi-automated drumming lines with empty drums, ensure filling procedure is consistently applied and accuracy is maintained. Secure drums and remove from filling line using forklift and drum picker to place in storage as finished goods ready for outbound shipment.

Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to collaborate and communicate with peers, manufacturing and planning personnel. Good basic computer skills and math skills (weights, measures and conversions). This position works with hazardous chemicals and must have knowledge and awareness of safe work practices, HAZMAT and DOT procedures. Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes; according to season. Physically able to bend, stoop, twist, turn, stand for extending periods of time, reaching, climbing stairs/ ladders, lifting up to 75 lbs. and medically clear to use a respirator. Ability to progress to an operator position which works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
Education: Education, licenses, certifications or degrees needed to perform the job.
High School diploma or GED required. Previous HAZMAT, DOT and forklift operator training/ certifications preferred.

Each paycheck will have 84 hours. 76 hrs ST & 8 hrs OT.
