Job Description

Mill Brook Engineering, LLC is in search of creative quality oriented civil engineers with experience in land development design. We are a small company that offers a flexible and dynamic workplace and cutting-edge IT structure. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience, ability to work well with others, and solid wastewater and water design experience as appropriate for their level of experience. A background with site and land development engineering would be a bonus and will be considered in lieu of significant wastewater design
experience.

Candidates must be able to compile and analyze data and information on such site conditions as geographic location; soil, vegetation; drainage; and location of existing structures for preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and final design documents.

The ideal candidates should be able to prepare and analyze utility plans and have strong communication skills. A detail-oriented person with pride in their work is being sought. The individual may review construction work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications,
to approve quality of materials and work, and to advise client and construction personnel on project design features.

Primary Responsibilities:
Perform technical engineering work including:

  • Prepare presentation documents for use in client meetings and public hearings;
  • Prepare existing site surveys and exhibits that document, evaluate, and recommend solutions for civil engineering projects;
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications;
  • Prepare engineering reports and feasibility studies;
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and visual aids;
  • Develop hydraulic and hydrologic models and perform engineering analysis;
  • Participate in field investigations;
  • Complete various permitting applications;
  • Provide third party reviews of plans and specifications;
  • Provide contract administration services during construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications;
  • Participate in development and drafting of design details;
  • Prepare engineering computations and design reports;
  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience;
  • Excellent communication, graphic, and writing skills;
  • Bachelors’ degree from an ABET accredited institution in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • F.E./E.I./E.I.T. Certification
  • Team Player and detail oriented;
  • Basic Familiarity with; hydraulic and hydrologic computations and modeling, land surveying techniques, and land development practices;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus), Stormwater Modeling
  • Software such as HydroCAD, PondPack, or Hydraflow Hydrographs, Drainage Modeling
  • Software such as Excel, StormCAD, Hydraflow Storm Sewers;
  • Pride in your work;

Candidate should be a critical thinker, be willing to learn through trial and error, be self-motivated and willing to put forth the full effort towards the task.
Candidate should have a strong desire to grow and advance as an engineer on path toward licensure.
