SUMMARY

This position will provide support by performing monitoring, sampling and analysis of utility systems, equipment operational adjustments, preventative maintenance, maintenance repairs, and documentation of the utility system(s) operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Utility Systems

Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and repair the mechanical and operational status of all utility systems including cooling tower systems, low temperature cooling system, HVAC systems, swamp cooler system, building air systems, scrubber systems, steam and condensate system, compressed air system, PSA nitrogen generating system, High Purity Water (HPW), and Low Endotoxin Purified Water (LEPW) generating and distribution systems. Key tasks include:

  • Monitoring of utility systems both in the field and from automated systems
  • Sample and test systems and report test results
  • Operation, startup, and shutdown of utility systems and supporting equipment, such as chemical feed systems
  • Handling of chemical systems such as loading bulk or drummed treatment chemicals, passivation of stainless piping, and working within the operating plants
  • Basic troubleshooting of utility systems
  • Standard preventative and repair maintenance

General Activities

  • Assist/perform preventative and operational maintenance, preparations for maintenance, cleaning, and adjustment on any or all systems as required
  • Assist/perform plant maintenance as required to assist regular plant maintenance team in performing their tasks
  • Assist in coordinating and performing work with department personnel regulatory officials, and outside contractors
  • Maintain documentation on equipment, systems, and vendors. This includes ensuring correct documentation of preventative maintenance, calibrations, and inspections. This requires familiarity with systems such as SAP, Microsoft Word, and other Corden documentation systems
  • Provide support to the Waste Treatment area when required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, low levels of toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • Knowledge of utility systems, temperature exchange, combustion, pressure, vacuum, compression, and filtration and their function to chemical processing
  • Ability to handle bulk or drummed chemicals
  • Able to operate forklift and man lift
  • Able to perform confined space entries or perform as rescue or attendant. This includes the ability to utilize protective personnel equipment as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate safety and regulatory practices appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team
  • Provide off hours coverage and assistance with utilities systems as required

Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
