Job Title: Solar Mechanic Foreman


Overview: As a Solar Mechanic Foreman, you will lead a team of technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar energy systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in solar PV systems, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate and oversee projects effectively.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead a team of solar technicians, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure the successful completion of installation and maintenance projects.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and experience, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
    • Conduct regular training sessions and safety meetings to promote skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Installation and Maintenance:
    • Oversee the installation of solar PV systems, including rooftop and ground-mounted arrays, solar inverters, racking systems, and electrical components.
    • Ensure that installation activities are performed according to industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and project requirements.
    • Conduct routine maintenance inspections and repairs on existing solar installations to optimize performance and ensure longevity.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement quality control measures to ensure that all work meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of completed installations, identifying any defects or deficiencies and coordinating corrective actions as needed.
    • Maintain detailed records of installation activities, including documentation of materials used, work performed, and any warranty information.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
    • Provide safety training to team members, emphasizing the importance of proper equipment usage, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses, implementing preventive measures to minimize the risk of recurrence.
  • Client Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the installation and maintenance process, addressing any questions, concerns, or requests for information.
    • Provide regular project updates to clients, keeping them informed of progress, milestones, and any potential issues that may arise.
    • Foster positive relationships with clients through responsive communication, professional conduct, and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in solar energy systems (preferred).
  • Proven experience in solar PV installation and maintenance, with a strong understanding of solar technology, electrical systems, and construction principles.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and industry best practices related to solar installation and construction.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
