Position Summary
Operate mammographic equipment to make clinical diagnostic procedures according to established ACR (American College of Radiology) and FDA standards and practices.
Essential Functions
Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking mammograms. Position and instruct patient regarding procedures.
Process films and check for proper positioning technique and patient identification. Prepare and delivery films to radiologist for interpretation.
Maintain established mammogram department policies and procedures, objectives, and a program for safety environment and infection control.
Responsible for QA/QC testing procedures according to guidelines established in ACR/MQC manual.
Maintain required department records (patient and biopsy reports; follow-ups, etc.) and files.
Assist in care and maintenance of mammogram department, equipment, and supplies. Keep work area clean and neat. Maintain supply levels.
Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, conferences, workshops, etc.
Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
As of October 1, 1996, FDA allows the training requirement to be satisfied in any one of five ways:
1. Receive at least 40 hours of training in topics that can lead to improvement in the quality of
mammography. (Training can take place either in the basic curriculum of informal,
organized continuing education programs inside or outside of the facility.)
2. Earn the advanced certificate in mammography from the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists.
3. Earn the mammography certificate issued by California.
4. Earn the mammography certificate issued by Arizona.
5. Successfully complete the three day course in mammography offered by the Medical
Technology Management Institute.
Must have minimum of five continuing education credits/units in mammography annually.
CPR required.
Radiology Technician Position Summary
Operate radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic x‑ray films as directed by physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
Essential Functions
Take x‑ray images of specified body areas/parts as ordered, following established procedures.
Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking x‑rays. Position and instruct patient regarding
procedures. Administer contrast media when ordered by venous puncture and/or existing IV site
as specified by Radiologist.
Transport and take x‑ray images throughout the hospital as needed (operating room, emergency
room, and patient room).
Process films and check for proper positioning technique and patient identification. Prepare and
deliver films to Radiologist for interpretation.
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety,
environmental and infection control.
Maintain required department record (patient/other), reports, and files.
Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Keep work areas clean.
Maintain supply levels.
Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, conferences,
workshops, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
