The Quality Control Technician is responsible for direct examination of product to ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and identifying defects and or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain. This position requires continual presence at the plant to accomplish duties.
Responsibilities:
· Abide by IPP’s safety and Health Policies and Procedures including wearing proper PPE and maintaining a safe work environment.
· Abide by IPP’s Quality Management System.
· Understand the Mission Statement.
· Inspect product as assigned for defects to ensure conformance against blue print specifications.
· Remove defective items from production, designating reason for removal.
· Report defects to production and quality managers.
· Maintain quality inspection reports, nonconformance reports and others as necessary.
· Inspect all parts in work orders delivered from distribution center.
· Cross-trained with ability to perform necessary testing on plastic material, such as; melt flow rating, moisture, density rating and carbon content, as needed.
· Direct tasks to the General Laborer as they relate to Quality Assurance.
· Perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT), as required.
· Perform necessary calibrations.
· Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the quality department and IPP.
· Train in the use of testing and measuring equipment and work instructions.
· Receive and release product to and from distribution center representative.
· Notifies appropriate personnel when packaging inventory is needed.
· Other duties as required.
· Band and store parts in designated areas for pick up by distribution center representative.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience performing quality control inspection.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Direct knowledge of quality control practices.
· Highly motivated and self-directed and capable of working with minimum supervision.
· Detail-oriented individual.
· Able to perform basic mathematical functions.
· Experience operating a forklift and pallet jack.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Forklift certification preferred.
· ASNT level I certification preferred.
Physical Conditions:
Position will be exposed to general warehouse conditions including hot and cold temperatures. Employees will have to lift up to 50 lb., stand frequently, bend, lift, and kneel.
