Job Description

The Electrical Designer will carry out varied electrical design assignments including the design, analysis, and testing of electrical control systems and quantification of hardware, plus writing technical documentation.

  • ​​​​Design, develop, analyze, and specify electrical control systems and associated hardware.
  • Create bidding and scope documentation, and participate in developing user and system design functional specifications.
  • Perform risk assessments, material procurement, and basic logistics.
  • Troubleshoot electrical installations per project scope and complete commissioning summaries with client approval.
  • Conduct routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports.
  • Generate contractor schedules and work plans.
  • Run bidding meetings, perform contractor walkthroughs, and ensure compliance with permits and site requirements.
  • Develop budgets and requirements for construction activities.
  • Monitor on-site subcontractors for safety compliance and quality of work.
  • Assist in establishing guides, devising new approaches, and applying existing criteria in new manners.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and customer standards/practices.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships and attend vendor meetings.

Technologies Used: 

  • AutoCAD 2012/2014. 
  • Strong working knowledge of the following Manufacture hardware (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5 and SLC 500, Siemens S5 & S7 & TI, Omron, Modicon, GE, etc.) for specification of the following;
  •  PLC I/O Modules o PLC I/O buses (Profibus, Fieldbus, DeviceNet, etc.)
  • PLC Communications (Ethernet) o Motor Starters. Overloads, Relays and Operator Controls o Field Sensors (Level, Pressure, Temperature, Proximity switches, Encoders, Resolvers etc.)
  •  Variable Frequency Drives o Servo Motion Control products (AB, Reliance, Pacific Scientific, Emerson, etc.) o Pneumatic Control products
  •  Hydraulic Control products o Safety Monitoring Relays, PLCs, Category 3 Level 1 Electrical Designer / Engineer Expectations
Qualifications

  • Have at least one of the following: Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering Degree, related technical certificate/diploma, CET designation, or Licensed Electrician certificate.
  • Utilizes basic electrical design methods and techniques to solve problems.
  •  0 - 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Excellent people skills and strong communication ability.
  • Proficient at reading drawings and schematics.
  • Flexible with travel, b/w 30-50% ( USA and Canada)
