Mooseheart Child City and School's mission is to care for at-risk children and teens. Mooseheart is always searching for individuals and couples who strongly believe that every child deserves a healthy, happy, nurturing environment in which to grow, and who are willing to dedicate their time and efforts to enriching the lives of children, and contributing to their overall success.

Family Teachers provide direct care for youth in a safe and caring family-style living environment. They use rational problem-solving techniques to teach youth critical thinking skills, assist with behavioral problems, and guide youth through personal issues. Family Teachers have the unique opportunity to provide youth with a positive second chance, introduce them to new experiences, and provide examples of proud parenting, family dynamics, and healthy relationships.

A Typical Family Teacher Schedule:

• 5 days on, 2 days off (with 1 extra day every 4 weeks)
• Mornings: Prepare youth for the school day (Live-In & Hourly 6 am-2 pm)
• School Daytime: Attend meetings, trainings, paperwork, grocery shopping, or enjoy personal time (Live-In & Hourly 6 am-2 pm)
• Afternoons & Evenings: extracurriculars, chores, homework, dinner, family time, teaching to youth behaviors, & relaxation (Live-In & Hourly 2 pm-10 pm)
• Overnight: Ensure youth are safe in their rooms, that the house is closed and secured for the evening, and respond to emergencies as needed. (Live-In & Hourly 10 pm-6 am)
• Weekends & Summer: breakfast, lunch, & dinner, recreation, enrichments, outings, & relaxation (All Positions)

Family Teachers work closely & extensively with other Mooseheart staff to foster student success and help build a community of dedicated caregivers. They also handle other necessary tasks such as budgeting, administering medications, schedule student medical appointments, driving, etc.

Benefits:

• Salary of $43,500-$45,000 or $18/hr - $20/hr

• Every Family Teacher will receive extensive training on the Mooseheart Model of Care and work towards Family Teacher Certification.

*Available to Live-In Family Teachers

Required Qualifications:

• At least 21 years of age
• High School Degree or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
• Abide by a smoke-free & weapon-free campus policy
• Ability to attend a 3-week paid training on campus

• Formal Interview (either in person or via video conference)
• Campus visit
