Job Description
NEWSnet is looking for an Broadcast Engineering Technician to help provide support for various engineering and office projects for the broadcast studios, the newsroom, and remote facilities. The ideal candidate would have prior basic technical experience in a broadcast or video production environment and have basic IT-related skills. Knowledge of basic electronics and basic skills with hand tools and ladders is necessary.
Duties:
- Assist with general facility projects and equipment maintenance.
- Provide hands-on assistance with equipment testing and equipment installation.
- Install, terminate, and test signal cabling for ethernet and coax.
- Provide event support for campus tours and special events. (make sure AV equipment is online, set up tables and chairs, etc.)
- Assemble/install/relocate office equipment like computers, desks, and phones.
- Travel to local engineering sites to help install equipment, restart systems, assist with troubleshooting.
- Organize engineering tools and supplies, pickup supplies, relocate equipment, load/unload equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the newsroom, offices, conference rooms, warehouse, studios, lobby, and work areas, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be familiar with MS Office Suite of apps like Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe CC suite of apps in a plus.
- Proficient time management and organization skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
- Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written)
