Buyer Purchasing

Moss Motors is seeking a detailed-oriented and strategically minded Buyer to join our purchasing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring high-quality automotive parts and accessories while ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery. This role required strong negotiation skills and an in depth understanding of the supply chain and the countries we get them from.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a network of vendors to ensure on-time delivery of quality product.
• Understand forecasting methods (demand, trend, seasonality). Optimize inventory across multiple distribution centers.
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate best terms, pricing and delivery.
• Place purchase orders, control inventory, ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels and minimize overstock or stock out conditions.
• Arrange transport of goods and track orders to point of delivery. Partner with warehouse teams to expedite the receiving and check-in of goods and materials.
• Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Sales and Engineering on sales events, new items, product availability and quality related issues.
• Research and evaluate potential new sources of supply. On-board new suppliers as needed.
• Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years’ experience as a buyer, replenishment re-buyer or inventory planner
• Excellent computer skills: Experience with Microsoft Office Products with an emphasis on Excel and Access. Microsoft Navision (NAV) experience a plus
• Critical thinking and negotiation skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Occasional domestic travel to trade shows, company events and supplier locations.

Seeking candidates with:

• Previous/recent experience with manufacturing, with mechanical/machines parts, auto parts preferred.
• Previous experience of traveling to low cost countries ( Asia Preferred ) for Factory audits, know how to assess factory capacity & capability, engineering capability, etc.
• Familiar with working with engineers and engineering drawings.
  Bilingual ( Mandarin ) is strongly preferred; however, if someone checks all boxes except the bilingual part will certainly be considered.

• Able to travel and have traveled to China & has previous experience with China.

Preferred

• Automotive parts industry experience
• MS Access and Microsoft Navision experience a plus

• 2-5 years’ experience as a buyer, replenishment re-buyer or inventory planner
• Good computer skills: Experience with Microsoft Office Products, such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Critical thinking and negotiation skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong follow-up/follow through skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter and independent thinker that can work with a wide range of personalities under limited supervision.      
• Occasional domestic travel to trade shows, company events and supplier locations.
