Senior Systems Engineer

Job Purpose

Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of the company’s IT infrastructure. Manage the Windows server environment and VMware stack, design and implement a Distributed File System (DFS), and provide proactive and reactive support for all systems-related issues.

Essential Functions

• Manage and maintain Windows server environment including, but not limited to, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services
• Manage, secure, and optimize VMware virtualization infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
• Design, implement, manage, and maintain a Distributed File System (DFS) to improve file management and replication across the network
• Provide day-to-day support for all systems-related issues including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning
• Monitor system health and performance, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and facilitate knowledge transfer
• Assist with other IT-related business initiatives as needed
• Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a senior systems engineering role with a focus on managing Windows server environments and VMware virtualization
• Expertise in Windows server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services
• Extensive experience with VMware vSphere including ESXi, vCenter, iSCSI, and vMotion
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS desired
• Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) for automation and task scripting
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, Datto, etc.)
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching)
• Proven track record designing and implementing complex IT solutions such as Distributed File System (DFS) in enterprise environments
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues promptly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization
• Ability to hit the ground running with an energetic and proactive approach
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
