JOB OVERVIEW

This Sr. Quality Technician supports Hoosier Gasket Corporation (HGC) 's mission and core values by performing various tasks to ensure the Quality Management System functions as intended. Functioning as a lead for process and document changes is part of the activities for introducing new products utilizing APQP tools. It is also a coordinator of activities essential for adequately functioning the Quality Management System and the Environmental Management System.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate all document control and changes
  • Submits PPAPs for internal approval when required
  • Submits PPAPs to customer
  • Maintain and update the PPAP Log
  • Track Customer's PPAP due dates and ensure timely and accurate submissions
  • Verifies and records Supplier certification data if required
  • Maintains SDS Sheet and links
  • Work on multidisciplinary teams to perform root cause analysis of systems and process issues
  • Support record retention activities, including recording specific documents per our record retention procedure
  • Supports Engineering and Quality Engineering with APQP tools as needed, including Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis
  • Assists Quality Engineer with Issues by completing Quality Alerts, assisting with containment, and pulling files for issues
  • Miscellaneous tasks and projects to support HGC and its Continuous Improvement activities
  • Interacting and working professionally with customers, co-workers, and management in communication and actions
  • Utilize computer and software to generate reports
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES                                                                                             

  • Computer skills—The individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Interpersonal Skills: The individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas, and is willing to try new things. He or she also can handle personnel effectively with a positive outcome.
  • Oral communication—the individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and needs to demonstrate group presentation skills.
  • Written Communication: The individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and can read and interpret written information.
  • Planning/organizing: The individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and can complete tasks on time.
  • Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors their work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages demands, and can deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Change – the individual must support change in processes by following them
  • Dependability—the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, completes tasks on time, responds to management direction, and requests feedback to improve performance.
  • Safety and security—the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
  • Two years of Quality Assurance and inspection experience in manufacturing is preferred. 
    Previous experience as Quality System Coordinator or Document Control Coordinator
  • Experience with APQP tools preferred
  • Internal Audit Certification for ISO 9001-2015 is a plus
  • Experience with Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis preferred  
  • A strong willingness to learn new processes and procedures will help the individual be successful at HGC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The person in this role will be consistently required to sit, type, stand, and walk for extended periods and occasionally bend/crouch, carry objects, handle/manipulate objects, lift (50 lbs. maximum), kneel, push/pull, twist and engage in rapid reflex movements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations.
 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Fast-paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing plant and office. Exposure to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles. May work with or near dry ice, CO2 gas, and/or silicone. Protective clothing/equipment may be required depending on the job task. Work may be performed in areas of extreme heat.
