Job Description
Job Title: Medical Scribe
Overview: A medical scribe plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by assisting physicians and other healthcare providers with documentation, patient care coordination, and administrative tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of medical terminology.
Responsibilities:
  • Documentation: Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters, including medical histories, physical exams, procedures, and treatment plans, into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assistance during Patient Examinations: Accompany the physician during patient visits and transcribe details of the encounter, including lab results, radiology reports, and other pertinent information.
  • Administrative Support: Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and organizing medical records.
  • Communication: Facilitate communication between the physician and other healthcare team members, patients, and caregivers.
  • Medical Terminology: Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology to accurately interpret and document information.
  • HIPAA Compliance: Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Chart Review: Perform thorough chart reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or currently pursuing a degree in a healthcare profession (e.g., pre-med, nursing).
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., medical assistant, healthcare assistant) is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work primarily takes place in a clinical setting, such as a hospital, clinic, or physician's office.
  • May involve standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Will work 20-30 hour per week
