Registered Dental Hygienist

Summary/Objective The Registered Dental Hygienist will assist the treating orthodontist with clinical procedures as per the scope of licensure.

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Performs sterilization procedures following protocols set in accordance with established guidelines

2. Prepares dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.

3. Obtains diagnostic records ordered by a licensed dentist including intra-oral and scans/photos

4. Prepares tray set-ups for dental procedures

5. Provides patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist including polishing with rotary instruments

6. Creates entries in patients' medical records as directed by the treating dentist

7. Provides patient education including care instructions

8. Performs basic dental lab duties including the fabrication of Essix retainers

9. Prepares and documents lab cases ensuring timely delivery

10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Title: RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time and may require late night and weekend shifts. This position requires an individual to

be available for an on-call schedule.

Travel

Local travel is expected.

Physical Demand

1. Exposure to hazardous chemical(s); Cavicide, ProSpray C-60 and Isopropyl alcohol (material safety data sheet in office)

2. Ability to lift 25 pounds

Required Education and Experience

1. Associate degree from an accredited dental hygiene program

2. Knowledge and understanding of dental terminology and procedures

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Valid dental hygiene license 2. Current CPR certification

3. Must comply with continuing education requirements to maintain license/certification
