SUMMARY:
Operates manually controlled Flexographic press that prints lettering and images on supported, and unsupported, stocks by performing the following duties:
DUTIES:- Mounts plates on printing cylinders with foam cushion double-sided sticky tape (plate mounting tape) using the PM160 plate mounter
- Request from warehouse the required amount of material to produce job
- Uses work order and job history to determine the best way to set up press to complete a given job
- Puts die in press, cylinders in press, splices on material and sets web guide
- Sets impression and one-to-one register
- Lines up die with print, applies pressure to die until die cuts material, strips matrix and trims liner edges
- Inspects labels during press run for defects then flags all defects
- Cleans ink, plates and press with solvent utilizing proper personal protective equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1 year of manufacturing experience
- Prefer 1 year of machine operator experience
- Basic computer skills
SPECIAL SKILLS / ABILITIES: Must posses the following skills:
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables and standardized situations.
- Quality Skills: Be familiar with basic ideas and principles behind quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC & 5 Why’s) and other quality tools that can help improve production in your work area.
- Color Skills: Be familiar with basic color theory, primary and secondary colors, spectrometers, LAB, and delta E values.
- Technical Skills – Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continually build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others.
