TELECOM INDUSTRY - QA Lab Technician (1ST OR 2ND SHIFT)

MUST HAVE TELECOMMUNICATION EXPERIENCE.

MULTIPLE PLATFORMS - OPTICAL TRANSPORT, ATM, MUX, DWDM.

Support the RMA process by testing circuit cards or assemblies in a production environment for multiple platforms and technologies, including optical transport, TDM transport, and Ethernet.

Job Description:

Setup and configure systems for testing of Circuit Packs according to Fortress’ Test Procedures and document detailed findings in Fortress’ DMS. Perform routine documentation on all work and provide status updates daily or as required. Research documentation as needed to support the test process. Assist with development of written procedures covering testing processes. Work with peers and engineering to complete daily tasks set forth by management.

Verify Test Procedures that Engineering releases and report back any findings to better improve the Test Procedure.

Manage special projects and perform other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Associates Degree in electronics or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Certifications are a plus.

• 5+ years of work experience with testing and troubleshooting at a system level of Telecom and Internet equipment and circuit boards in an ESD controlled lab environment. Must have experience with hardware and software from Cisco, Nortel, Ciena, Redback, Alcatel, Lucent, Juniper, NEC, Tellabs, and Fujitsu.

• Must be knowledgeable and have a good understanding of telecommunication designs and systems within the PSTN (Public Switching Telephone Network).

• Must be well versed using an oscilloscope, digital multimeter, digital/optical test sets (DS1, DS3, OC12, OC48, OC192, OSA etc.), optical power meters, attenuators, specialized high-voltage and high-current DC and AC-powered chassis and have a basic understanding of digital and analog circuit design and theory.

• Must be able to read and follow test procedures on a screen and be able to provide additional input as it becomes available. The ability to help document test processes is a plus.

• Must have outstanding verbal and written communication and be able to fluently converse with other technicians, engineering or management about tests performed or current progress on SRO’s in the test process. Adherence to ISO/TL processes.

• Ability to work some overtime as required during the week as well as working at least one weekend a month.
