National contract packaging company who lives and breathes a culture of daily innovation, excitement, sense of urgency and passion for being multiple steps above the rest is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager with at least 7+ years’ experience in a similar industry.


Our organization maintains high expectations for all employees and that is especially true for Quality Managers. The Quality Manager is a critical factor in our success. They bridge the gap between corporate and local teams, aligning expectations and ensuring achievement of facility goals. They should always be a culture warrior and constantly promote the culture mentality through leading by example in their facilities and community.

It is the Quality Manager’s responsibility to meet the established expectations and tasks set forth by senior Quality Leadership and local facility General Manager for the Acworth, GA facility. An overall summary of these can be found below. This is not an all-inclusive list of tasks to be completed. It is a list of activities proven to make a quality department successful and are therefore required responsibilities for the Quality Manager. Additional tasks may be assigned at any time by their supervisor(s).

Requirements:



Safety

  • Work with customer and internal departments to maintain a current and accurate SDS information for all items brought into facility
  • Belongs to the safety team and contributes to the overall safety of the warehouse.

Quality Control

  • Assists as needed in the onboarding of QA staff.
    • Ensures routine training is occurring and assists, when necessary, in conducting training.
  • Ensures that all training records are completed and retained in accordance with procedure.
  • Conducts annual SOP/GMP/GDP training for all FTE and long-term Staffing Associates.
    • Responsible for uploading annual training roster in SharePoint site.
  • Conducts all SOP revision trainings with affected departments.
  • Approves schedules and helps direct activities of hourly sanitation personnel, ensuring proper documentation of daily, weekly, monthly, and biannual activities (COR.EQ.01 forms) is being created and retained.
  • Maintains compliance with pest control SOP, including managing external contractors or in-house monitoring.
  • Approves schedules and directing activities of hourly inspection personnel involved in in-process inspection and final inspection.
    • Conducts routine training of Quality Inspectors to maintain consistent enforcement of Quality programs.
  • Analyzes quality data to determine trends to help maximize process performance standards.
    • Effectively provide input to QA Management and work proactively to attain continual improvement within the department.
  • Generates daily QA inspection forms and ensuring all production records are reviewed and approved in a timely manner (not to exceed 2 days).
  • Communicate with members of management in Operations, Account Management, Inventory, and Warehouse on a regular basis to report quality data and receive feedback from the various departments to provide the best quality product possible.
  • Responsible for systematically placing items on hold and removing same, when necessary, in accordance with procedures and communicating all items placed on hold to quality/facility leadership.
    • Maintains a current and accurate Hold Log at all times
  • Responsible for communicating quality defects directly to facility managements.
    • Ensures all non-conforming materials are tagged and staged in designated areas.
  • Provides coverage in the absence of the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
  • Oversees all tasks required for recall success. Responsible for ensuring all tasks are performed on time and completely.
  • Completes two mock recalls annually.

Personnel Management

  • Conducts daily floor rounds to ensure QA procedures are being followed.
  • Monitors QA personnel issues and concerns including attendance policy and scheduling of vacations.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Resolve and escalate conflicts that may arise and exhibit good sense of judgment to ensure that parties involved are treated fairly.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Maintain current revisions of all documents and maintain document control throughout facility.
  • Participates in customer and regulatory audits as required.
  • Conducts or assists in internal audits as needed.
  • Participates in quarterly food safety meetings, documenting and retaining files properly (when required).
  • Ensures all HACCP Plans and Vulnerability assessments are completed annually when required (Person will have to be HACCP certified).
  • Participates in generating production data as needed to support annual filings.
  • Drive actions stemming from corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) system.
  • Participate in the development of processes that will improve overall quality.

Operational Results

  • Understanding, tracking and improving KPIs is vital to the Quality Manager’s success and the success of his/her department.

Quality Assurance

  • It is our position that the products we deliver and the data we provide can be perfect in our customer’s eyes. With the help of their quality department, the GM will ensure that all products meet or exceed customer requirements and that all data is accurate and timely.
  • “Do it safely” is a key cornerstone of our culture. With the help of their quality department, the General Manager will provide an injury-free environment where employees are safe. No job is worth even a paper cut on our employees.
  • The Quality Manager is expected to adhere to the established Quality Management System Standard Operating Procedures. They must require compliance throughout their facility and ensure all employees are sufficiently trained on their required SOPs.

Audit Success

  • Our facilities are frequently audited by customers, 3rd Party companies, and governmental agencies. It is the Quality Manager’s responsibility to ensure we exceed quality standards on all audits. We achieve this level of success through thorough internal audits and a robust CAPA program. The Quality Manager and his/her department are expected to participate in both of these programs on an as needed basis.

Human Resources

  • Our business model requires an extremely flexible and agile workforce that delivers perfect service at the lowest possible cost. This workforce will consist of permanent employees, part-time employees, seasonal employees, contractors, and temporary employees of varying degrees of skill and education. It is the responsibility of the Quality Manager to recruit, train, and manage this diverse, flexible workforce.
  • Manage and maintain personnel requirements and reporting structure to ensure a successful, efficient and cost effective production facility.
  • Manage recruiting, hiring, and onboarding process for new personnel and follow up with 90 day and yearly performance reviews to further develop, train and provide feedback to all appropriate personnel.
  • Develop, manage and maintain cross function bench strength for all personnel to efficiently manage all requirements necessary, not only for their facilities but also assist national facilities when necessary.
  • Drive corporate culture through leadership, fellowship and management activities.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with Staffing Agencies in order to foster successful collaboration, achieving production objectives, facility profitability, and support of needs in a responsive and effective manner.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Attend all necessary customer meetings, conference calls, and requested events or delegate to necessary personnel with desired outcomes/reporting back to GM in place to ensure success of meeting/call/event.
  • Ensure requirements or delegate are staged and ready for meeting start accordingly.
  • Direct, develop, manage, and maintain reporting requirements for all customer information and accessible to corporate and appropriate audiences when necessary.
  • Ensure customer reporting is completed, accurate and timely.
  • Strive for “Operational Silence” by determining what is going to impact/interrupt customer, work with Operations team to solve problems proactively.
  • Ensure all cost recovery opportunities are captured, approved, and documented.
  • Ensure all customer requests and inquiries are responded to, same day, with informative and appropriate responses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 to 7+ years’ experience or an Associates Degree and 7+ years QA experience packaging or production environment.
  • Must be able to complete QA paperwork accurately.
  • HACCP Certification preferred before hire, or in progress.
  • Able to use a scientific calculator.
  • Able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Ability to work on a regular and reliable basis and work overtime as weekends as needed.
  • Assist Supervisor where necessary in research and development.
  • Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills must maintain a positive attitude and the ability to motivate team members.
