Utility Maintenance Worker - Streets & Drainange

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Utility Maintenance Worker - Streets & Drainage to help improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Engineering & Public Works Department. Could you excel in a fast-paced environment? If so, you may be perfect for this position!

The Utility Maintenance Worker- Streets and Drainage earns a competitive salary of $17.77 - $19.24 /hourly based on qualifications. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE UTILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER - STREETS & DRAINAGE

Essential Functions:

• Maintains equipment such as pole saws, rescue saws, chainsaws, hoses and nozzles and hand tools.
• Clean and maintain shop area.
• Maintains rights of way along with public and City owned property by clearing debris and vegetation from both open and closed drainage systems.
• Performs daily inspections of equipment, repairs and maintains equipment, vacuum control systems and CCTV systems.
• Provides open ditch profiles and elevation surveys via surveying equipment
• Available to support other service areas for both open and closed drainage systems on repairs, storm sewer lines and new installs.
• Performs traffic control and flagging when needed, builds traffic control work zones and puts out traffic control devices for traffic safety.
• Completes needed maintenance to keep City right of way compliant with City Ordinance & Codes

Additional Duties:

• Operates medium and heavy equipment; operates hand and gas-powered tools.
• Responds to customer complaint calls, work orders and service requests.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three months ground/drainage maintenance experience or closely related preferred.
• Valid, Class C driver's license
