Family Law Paralegal

New Leaf Family
Golden, CO
  • $65,000 to $85,000 Yearly
  • Full-Time
Job Description

If you have been looking for a different, better way to practice family law ... you may want to consider New Leaf Family.

We created this firm to be different for our team and different for our clients. From the ground up, we have built the family law firm we always wished existed when we needed them.

Doing things differently should get you excited.

Imagine working with a family law team that believes that there is a better way to handle family and relationship conflicts and in a positive work environment so that the team helping our clients can bring that positivity to them.

You are a stellar Paralegal who values our kind of positive working environment with a home-based option. If you are experienced, have high expectations for the quality of your work, are highly organized, have great attention to detail (including grammar and spelling), and like being rewarded for true value-added, this could be the perfect job for you.

Compensation is generous. The pay range is $65,000 - $85,000, depending on experience. This includes productivity incentives.

  • Health Insurance Plan
  • 401k with Match
  • New Laptop
  • Participating in Colorado Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals is available.

We’re looking for permanent members of our team … and that is how we treat one another.

Compensation:

$65,000 - $85,000 yearly DOE

Responsibilities:

With our Clients:

  • Listen. You have experience ... and it will help you hear what's important. But you also know that it is important for the client to tell their story
  • Understand. Clients will tell you, (and you will help them tell) about what they need, beyond what they need in court or litigation. You are going to help them to see a vision of where they want to be, not just what they're leaving behind
  • Hope. Many of our clients are focused on what they are losing and have not yet built an image of their future. You get to help them do that!
  • Empower. You must be dedicated to empowering our clients to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. You will empower them to build their futures
  • Serve. Assist the whole client. You will put clients in touch with additional resources, both inside and outside New Leaf. These could be closely affiliated, like parenting coordinators, divorce coaches, and financial planners, to other resources that clients may need, like real estate brokers, car dealers, personal trainers, or makeover artists

With Your Team

  • You are the project manager, making sure the case deadlines are accurately reflected, and working with your team to be sure they are met on time, on quality, and maximizing client participation
  • Hold client interviews to gather information about their goals, fears, hopes, and dreams
  • Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
  • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible

For yourself:

  • Align. Through understanding, you will make sure that our actions move the client in the direction of their vision
  • Attract. Bring more people into the New Leaf Family. You will be a positive ambassador for the work of the firm, and attract clients, and colleagues alike
  • Self-Care. Take care of yourself so that you can take care of clients
Qualifications:

First and foremost, you have a passion for empowering clients through their current family conflict, toward a future that they may not (yet) clearly see. Next, you are excited about the prospect of doing this … differently! The remainder of the qualifications don't matter if you don't have this! (But they are still essential if you do.) You are the right person if you are:

  • Skilled in supporting a legal team, but not set in the deeply worn grooves of the “system” that might not be serving clients best
  • Experienced. We need you to have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Colorado Family Law, with high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills. You know Colorado Family Law procedure, in your sleep. You are proficient and efficient and getting Sworn Financial Statements done accurately and on time
  • Creative. We want you to find joy in building creative solutions ... sometimes in the law ... often beyond it
  • Empathic. We want you to have a strong connection with clients, with the ability to hear their hopes, dreams, and desires as well as deliver difficult truths to them
  • Collaborative. In this world, it is important to have experience, and success working collaboratively with a team .... even when remote. You should enjoy working with a team ... but also be self-sufficient
  • Independent. This may seem contrary to being collaborative, but it is not. You must be able to work independently, yet also comfortable with reaching out for assistance, and knowing when to do so
  • Tech-friendly. We work hard to make our practice efficient and cost-effective for our clients. We want you to be proficient and self-sufficient with technology that facilitates working with a distributed team and servicing clients in ways most convenient to them
  • Committed to delivering excellent client service

About Company

We are focused on empowering our clients to resolve their family conflict problems. We exist to help them understand the future they want to build, and then use our skills and experience to help them plan their path and to help them implement it.

We understand that our clients don't come to us with legal problems. They are experiencing personal conflict. Yes, their problems likely have an intersection with the law, which is why we’re the right team to help them. But that isn’t the totality of their problem … so it's not the end of how we serve our clients.

We began our work in Family Law in 2004, and we believe that serving our clients means understanding their needs before engaging in any legal process. Our clients team up with us to build their futures ... and we take that responsibility very seriously.
