Delivery Driver

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of high quality specialty and frozen food products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

Our Syracuse, NY division is seeking a full-time CDL A driver looking for a high quality of life driving position with a consistent schedule and flexible management team. We take pride in our drivers’ years of service with our current team ranging from 2 to 30 years of service. Our fleet is comprised of late model 26’ box trucks and 48’ reefer unit trailers. Drivers will receive extensive training, giving them a chance to learn our business, our customers, and the confidence to perform work duties at a high level before working on their own.

Schedule:

• Drivers can expect routes to be 10-12 hours on average and will work a 4-to-5-day schedule with overtime available. Drivers will enjoy most evenings at home and weekends and holidays off. A typical route will depart from 3:00-5:00 AM.

Wages:

• $26.00 per hour

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete driving and delivery assignments as directed.
• Promote a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that enhances relationships with customers, co-workers, and managers.
• Conduct self in a way consistent with the company’s goal to maintain a safe environment and conditions and comply with all transportation and company safety requirements.
• Demonstrate and support River Valley’s vision, goals, and strategies.
• Keep accurate and legal FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) log and inspection reports, using electronic logging and dispatch software.
• Maintain all assigned property in excellent condition.
• Keep the inside of both vehicle cabs and boxes clean and organized.
• Responsible for reporting all motor vehicle, safety, or personal vehicle violations immediately to supervisor (on or off duty).
• Dress in company-provided apparel while on duty and maintain a well-groomed professional appearance.

Essential Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong attention to detail.
• Be certifiable in use of manual and electric pallet jacks.
• Able to meet physical requirements for sitting, climbing, standing, and walking every day.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Able to read and write the English language and do standard mathematical calculations.
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions, both heat and cold.
• Must be able and available to do a two-day route requiring an overnight stay. The company will provide hotel and food accommodation.

Education and Experience:

• Possess CDL Class A Driver’s License with air brake certification.
• One year of verifiable CDL Class A (air brakes) experience is preferred, but not required.
• An excellent driving record with no preventable accidents within 1 year and no D.U.I. or suspension over 30 days within the past 3 years.
• Pre-employment medical examination: A successful FMSCA - approved drug screen and pre-employment physical examination.
• Successful completion of a comprehensive road test.
• Be well-versed in all rules and regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles upon the highways
