Job Description

Summary:

This position counsels individuals with substance abuse issues and related problems, in an outpatient setting.  This position carries a caseload and counsels both individuals and groups.  This position may also engage in prevention or outreach activities.  Reports to Outpatient Services Coordinator.

 

Qualifications: 

Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor with two years of experience.  Computer literate.  Must have a valid California Driver’s License, proof of Automobile Insurance and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certificates.  Must pass background check.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in program planning and referral.
  • Intakes and assessments.
  • Treatment planning.
  • Facilitate therapy groups.
  • Facilitate education groups and individual sessions. 
  • Maintain all charting and other records as required by IVRS, County, State and other pertinent local agencies.
  • Provide client supervision at all times.
  • Interact with probation, parole and other referral sources.
  • Conduct urinalysis testing. When necessary
  • All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by management.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive attitude
  • Maintain a professional appearance

·         Maintain compassion, empathy, and professionalism toward clients; their family members and/or significant others at all times.

·         Attend all required agency staff and training meetings.

·         Adhere to policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness.

·         Ensure the highest level of service is provided to the people we serve.

·         Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with federal guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.

·         Adhere to staff Codes of Ethics and Conduct.

·         Adhere to policies and procedures set forth for agency.

·         Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards established by IVRS.

·         Must have knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and standards governing all services provided by IVRS.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators and fax machines.
  • Must be able to prepare correspondence.
  • Must be able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. 
  • Must be able to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
