Essential Functions

The position of Educational Coordinator (EC) is to be located on Vandenberg Space Force Base, California to effectively develop and manage educational initiatives that lead to new student enrollment growth and support for current students.  This position is expected to be highly visible on a daily basis, developing relationships through networking in the local community and attending events that promote the Purdue University brand. The EC will work closely with customer education related personnel as well as Purdue Global (PG) and Purdue Univ Online (PUO) Advising team(s) to provide support to newly enrolled students from networking events. The EC will manage processes involving multiple stakeholders and must be solution oriented, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with internal and external constituents in order to skillfully and creatively market Purdue’s brand proposition to the diverse population of potential learners on base.

Student Engagement (Acquisition)
  • Develop thorough understanding of Purdue Global (PG) and Purdue Univ. Online (PUO) product knowledge, policies, procedures, and systems to guide prospective students regarding career and specific program interest.
  • Build and maintain  mastery of articulation and advising content knowledge for all university, community college agreements and corporate alliance programs.

Local Student Success:
  • Provide students with access to available tools and resources by anticipating needs through consultative conversations, and assist the prospective student through the enrollment process specific to a program identified.
  • Assist new students with problem solving in a way that leaves the new student feeling as if they have a strong advocate for their success, presenting information in a professional, articulate, and confident manner, and effectively communicating the value proposition of the university.
  • Work with Purdue Online, PG and other sales and Account Management entities to develop reporting and insights that will assist the group as a whole.
 
Brand/Image Building:
  • Establish and maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with Base leadership, Educational Services Officer, and Education Center staff onboard the base.
  • Execute the local element of Purdue’s strategy that increases PG/PU brand awareness and attracts steady interest in our educational offerings among base personnel.
  • Be highly visible and dynamic to generate leads from site recruitment events, provide proactive input and creative support at local events such as Community College Open Houses and Transfer Fairs, College/Academic Fairs, Alumni gatherings and other specialized events held in assigned geographic areas as allowed by site and PG policy.
  • Participate in onsite student-facing events, conferences and virtual events within assigned region to generate inquiries.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Some evening hours may be required to attend education and transfer fairs held after normal work hours. This position may be eligible for 1 administrative telework day.  This position may require up to 25% travel within an assigned region that is primarily one to three days travel within the California geographical area.
  • Adhere to State/Federal regulations, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and PG Compliance Standards.
  • Adhere to continued school-specific programmatic training.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • The ability to represent the University with tact and diplomacy are essential.
  • Enjoy working in a high energy, fast-paced environment, demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative, and possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with prospective students in order to generate inquiries.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with diverse groups of people required.
  • Computer skills, with word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query, internet, Google Suite and Microsoft applications, etc., necessary.
  • Salesforce CRM experience is valued.
  • Handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Subject to background check for site access/entry as required.

Required Education/Experience and Benefits
Duty Statements:
  • Employees are required to work some evening and weekend hours.
  • Employees may be required to work certain holiday hours based on business need.
  • Employees are expected to host and attend special events at their assigned location’s office.
  • Work Location: In person.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).

Description of Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent work experience could substitute for educational degree.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience providing high quality customer service.
  • Candidates must possess excellent time management skills, high learning agility, creative problem solving, interpersonal, oral and written communications, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Candidates must exercise professionalism and the demonstrated ability to work responsibly and independently.
  • Candidates must have a good driving record along with reliable transportation and auto insurance.
  • Air travel will also be required.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in any of the following areas: online higher education admissions, advising, enrollment management, recruiting, educational or training-industry sales, consultative sales of a service offering, or experience in a high-volume, customer service environment.
