Job Description

The Quality Inspection Supervisor will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Quality Inspection team with regards to quality, safety, efficiency, and consistent high level of quality inspection of customer units.Facilitates the daily activities related to the inspection functions and provides leadership and motivation to achieve the desired level of quality and delivery to internal and external customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise Quality Inspectors in inspection and quality control procedures with regard to purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved.
  • Effectively lead and manage the performance of team members by being a role model to others, monitoring progress on objectives and behaviours and coaching others for success.
  • Supports the organizations' goal of improving manufacturing quality and efficiency by conducting or assigning inspections, assessing the results of the manufacturing process, and proposing improvements based on the findings.
  • Provides training to make sure all employees have the skills and tools necessary for optimum performance.
  • Develops and maintains systems to report results and findings to superiors and stakeholders.
  • Monitors inspection costs and continually seeks areas and processes that can be streamlined to produce cost savings.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new inspection equipment or techniques that could improve efficiency and quality.
  • Participates in daily stand-up meetings and coordinates with Quality Inspectors, Planners, and Operations to ensure manufacturing issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Addresses all necessary quality related tasks accurately, following established written procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of production / inspection documentation and compliance to applicable procedures.
  • Responsible for making sure all equipment used for inspection of product acceptance is calibrated.
  • Facilitate and ensures the team meet safety requirements and keep area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Provides a strong floor presence and understanding of the processes adequate to set the example for others to follow.
  • Regularly collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Customer representatives, as well as other internal/external partners.
  • Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Prior experience a supervisor or manager required.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, drawings or work instructions
  • Electronics production & manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and best practices.
  • Understanding of the Root Cause Corrective action process.
  • Familiar with the AS9102 First Article Inspection process.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of inspection tools, principles, and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess excellent customer service/relations skills.
  • Ability to function in a successful team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with demonstrated skills as a quality supervisor.
  • Solid experience and understanding of IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec inspection methods
  • Hands on knowledge and use of various inspection equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and ERP
  • Active IPC-610 and IPC-620 experience certifications preferred
  • FAA Inspection Experience preferred

Education: Two-year technical degree or equivalent.

Security: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). May be required to obtain a security clearance.
