Position - Assistant Dean of Residential Life & Housing/Deputy Title IX Coordinator


Position Summary

The Asst. Dean of Residential Life & Housing/Deputy Title IX Coordinator is an educator and strategic leader who is responsible for the operation, administration and supervision of the educational, social, and physical environments of the University’s residence halls, as well as investigating incidents in accordance to Title IX policy. The position will provide educational and administrative leadership for the creation of living-learning communities which support students in achieving academic success; provide visionary leadership for the department; manages the student housing program for the University; directs all departmental operations; and, oversees the department budget and establishes department goals.

                       

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and assesses University housing occupancy, retention, and projection trends; oversees the residential facilities to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment.
  • Supervise the development of residential communities that utilize best practices in student development and research to create engaging, learning environments.
  • Conducts regular reviews of all policies and procedures of the Office of Residential Life and Housing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Serves as an active committee member for the standards and expectations policies and procedures (student conduct) and investigating Title IX related incidents.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with oversight of administration of Residential Life and Housing, conference/camps services. Serve as a member of the department and/or divisional crisis response teams. Involved with the on-call duty rotation.
  • Approves, coordinates, and establishes, in consultation with Facilities Operations, priorities for residence hall maintenance work.
  • Ensures the security and safety of students; responsible for crisis and risk management.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, supervise and evaluate the professional staff of Residential Life and Housing.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in higher education administration, educational leadership, counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate policy, to lead/supervise staff, to develop and manage budgets, to develop educational programs, and to utilize technology effectively.
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience in a university residential life/housing program or related student service area.
  • Multilingual skills highly preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
