JOB SUMMARY

The Guide role in NOC’s SOLO Custom Group Programs will help facilitate and lead group hikes and wilderness survival skills programming. This position operates out of the SOLO Classroom located on NOC’s Main Campus. These programs are mainly booked by school and youth groups coming to NOC for multiple activities over a day or several days.

Responsibilities

• Quickly becoming knowledgeable about Hike and WSS activities as well as other NOC products, especially as they relate to the group’s itinerary
• Leading and/or assisting with Guided Hikes
• Assist with Wilderness Survival Skills ½ day programming
• Documentation of guest/guide numbers and any incidents during program
• Ability to learn and then share information about local flora, fauna, history, etc. as it pertains to the activity
• Other tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Highschool diploma or GED
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications will be required prior to start; Wilderness First Aid preferred
• Willing and able to commit to seasonal nature and demands of this position including start date, end date, and scheduling variability throughout.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Able to hike 2+ miles on steep and uneven terrain
• Able to bend, stoop, and twist
• Able to carry equipment over long distances
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to work in variable and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, busy, and dynamic environment.
