This is a great opportunity to put your Maintenance and Repair experience to good use for a major Recycling Facility in Portland. The position is full-time with benefits available after an introductory period and offers $25-$30/hour pay rate DOE.
Primary functions: Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, maintain and repair all warehouse equipment while following the standards set forth in the company Mission Statement, the company Policies and Procedures Handbook, and the company Safety and Health guidelines.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure that machines and rolling stock run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or rolling stock equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them utilizing repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Inspect, clean, lubricate, repair or replace mechanical components including but not limited to drives, motors, belts, fluids , filters, shafts, bearings, or gears
- Perform tasks such as welding and metal fabrication.
- Document type of maintenance or repair work on company forms and/or computer software.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area. Must be available to work a variety of shifts, overtime, and perform on-call responsibilities to accommodate production needs and occasionally work at other Company locations in the area.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere.
- Reliable and predictable on-site attendance is necessary.
- Willing to perform other duties as required and assigned by management.
Skills and attributes:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in trouble shooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing plant manufacturing equipment or school equivalent.
- Willing to learn to operate forklifts, skid steers, front loaders, yard goats, balers, strappers and sort system equipment.
- Minimum 2 years in metal fabrication, SMAW, GMAW and oxy-acetylene cutting operations.
- Strengths should include, but not limited to Combustion engine diagnosis, Diesel engine diagnosis, Hydraulic system diagnosis, fabrication/welding as applied to heavy equipment and industrial machinery.
- Ability to prioritize downed equipment, servicing and projects
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Must be able to work unsupervised as well as work in a team atmosphere.
- Be able to maintain composure in a stressful work environment.
- Possess basic math / computer skills and willing to improve beyond basic computer skills.
- Convey information effectively in written and oral format.
- Willing to work in elevated surfaces, narrow and confined spaces.
- Possess a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
- Must be willing to participate in job enhancement continuing education and/or on the job training.
Physical requirements:
- Working in an outdoor/warehouse and office environment may require some repetitive mechanical and office machine work.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, climb stairs, push, pull, stand, kneel, and twist.
- Must be able to lift 49lbs unassisted, access narrow and confined spaces, and balance on an incline.
- Possess a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
