Description

Job Title: Plasma Arc Welder

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for safely producing the plasma arc welded radial seams on bells for brass wind musical instruments (from a variety of materials) and producing any of the related components.
2. Setting-up and maintaining any and all of the related equipment.
3. Cleaning / degreasing component parts and finished bells.
4. Materials, supplies, components, and instruments must be moved from previous or moved to subsequent production operations.
5. Work procedures for these operations must follow standardized methods in a clearly prescribed sequence.

1. Required to move, lift, and maneuver all raw materials (up to 100 lbs.), tooling (up to 75 lbs.), work in process, and finished parts to assigned locations (either by hand or by mechanical means) safely and carefully. Required to form, spin, stamp, trim, or otherwise prepare raw materials for subsequent production operations.
2. Required to prepare bell flairs (from a variety of materials) or retrieve completed bell flairs from the automated spinning operation, and "face-off" bell flairs to an appropriate size and shape for subsequent plasma arc welding.
3. Required to "stamp" bell tails to an appropriate size and shape for subsequent plasma arc welding. Required to produce well-matched parts that will produce structurally sound plasma arc welded radial seams.
4. Produce component parts for brazed radial seams. Required to pickle (using an overhead crane), degrease (from an elevated platform), or otherwise clean component parts for subsequent plasma arc welding or other production operations.
5. Required to plasma arc weld radial bell seams from component parts for brass wind musical instruments. Required to set-up, adjust, operate, and service all equipment related to plasma arc welding. Required to remove, replace, and safely store gas tanks, to grind electrodes, and to otherwise make all necessary adjustments to equipment.
6. Required to pickle (using an overhead crane), degrease (from an elevated platform), or otherwise clean finished parts following plasma arc welding.
7. Required to maintain an appropriate, clean, and safe work environment.
