Network Engineer - Remote

We have an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to join our team. This is a fully remote position.
The primary function of the Network Engineer is to administer, upgrade, secure and maintain critical network and related hardware and software in a LAN/WAN/SD-WAN environment. Overall, the Network Engineer is responsible for operational readiness of all Credit Union network systems and assists with troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administering and maintaining the Credit Union’s network infrastructure which includes, but not limited to managing the day-to-day operational upkeeping of Routers, Switches, Firewall, IPS, NAC, VPNs, SD-WAN, SIEM, Network monitoring, and network circuits as well as actively participating on projects to implement new products and services.
- Supporting implementation of policies and procedures to ensure consistent provisioning, uptime, regulatory compliance, and data protection, including on-call support for infrastructure and network issues.
- Implementing and maintaining network and system security, including encryption and authentication standards, network user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam.
- Monitoring and patching all network hardware including routers, switches, IPS, and firewall.
- Using software like Tenable Nessus to assess and evaluate the Credit Union’s infrastructure and data to identify vulnerabilities caused by weaknesses or flaws in software and hardware that could expose the infrastructure to a security breach.
- Performing system upgrades through testing and validation of expected results, ensuring data integrity and system readiness to move upgrades into production environment.
- Actively participating in disaster recovery tests and recommending improvements to decrease RPO and RTO. This also includes assessing the environment to identify single points of failure, potential security gaps, or other improvements and making recommendations to management. Storage, Backup systems and end point AV to provide support and backup to the rest of team.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience and demonstrated knowledge of the following:
- Configuration, administering and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN infrastructure using best of breed technologies and vendors
- Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto PCNSA or higher
- LAN/WAN routing technologies including QoS, OSPF, MP-BGP, Complex redistribution, SD-WAN, MPLS, PB routing
- Delivery of voice, data, PCoIP and various services over MPLS/DMVPN/SD-WAN link
- Cisco ASA, FirePower and SSL/IPSec VPN
- Palo Alto firewalls
- Multi factor authentication setup and integration using prevailing technologies
- Various layer 2 and 3 implementation of VLANs, subnets, ACLs, iSCSI and EtherChannel
- Various network monitoring, SNMP, Solarwinds, PRTG, and NAC integration
- Advanced SIEM management using various log gathering and vulnerability assessment tools
- Experience with PCI DSS, NCUA and various financial regulators is a plus
