Job Summary

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Inventory Control Specialist will be primarily responsible for working with the Warehouse Manager and warehouse personnel to ensure the accuracy of the Inventory.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly inventory counts per Warehouse Manager’s schedule.
  • Determines root cause of inventory discrepancies and provides input on improved processes or training needed to avoid future transactional errors, if applicable.
  • Works with Warehouse Manager and Accounting team to develop and implement a systemically driven cycle count functionality in Great Plains.
  • Under Warehouse Manager’s guidance, leads the annual physical inventory process.
  • Works with Warehouse Manager to develop/improve and document effective inventory processes.
  • Takes primary responsibility for the following inventory transactions:
  • Cycle count adjustments
  • Part Number changes
  • Bin transfers
  • Site transfers
  • All other transactions as identified by the Warehouse Manager
  • Completes training on tier-lift-truck and may at times be required to operate tier-lift-truck or use hand truck to move, convey or hoist incoming or outgoing shipments.
  • Promotes good housekeeping and safety to ensure that the warehouse environment is clean, organized, productive and presentable at all times.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by completing assigned tasks in the time required.
  • Leads by example through effective communications, feedback, training and development.
  • Performs work according to GMP and ISO guidelines.
  • Complies with federal, state and local warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements.
  • Participates in cross training programs and Quality Control programs as required.
  • Coordinates with other warehouse personnel to help the team meet daily schedules and business milestones for the accurate and timely shipment of products to customers.
  • Completes training to stay current with job and procedural requirements.
  • Attends and participates as a key contributor to departmental meetings.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one-year experience in supply chain position
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements
  • Must be familiar with the most common material handling equipment
  • Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms used by major freight carriers
  • Must be capable of measuring and weighing goods and using that information to calculate the cost of shipment
  • Experience with UPS/FEDEX shipping is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and understanding of basic Quality systems
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, work process aids, company policies, and instruction manuals
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Able to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must haves: positive attitude, dependable, team oriented and hard-working

This position requires the ability to maintain the highest standards of professional maturity and emotional intelligence even in difficult or stressful situations.

Other Requirements

The employee must be trained on all of the documents, procedures, software applications and topics outlined by Quality Assurance. Documentation of this training will be maintained with Human Resources. Additional training requirements may be added as deemed necessary by the manager
