Job Description

This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are critical components for the position of Manager of Aircraft Maintenance Planning.

  1. General

This is a full-time position that will report to the Director of Technical Services and also interacts with the Director of Maintenance, Director of Quality, Manager of Aircraft Maintenance Control, Manager of CASS and Aircraft Reliability, Manager of Aircraft Technical Records, Manager of Quality, Sr. Manager of Materials, and Manager of System Operations Control. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of all FAR aircraft heavy maintenance requirements and is responsible for ensuring scheduling and compliance with company GMM and regulatory requirements. Good communication skills are required and the ability to negotiate with and manage external vendors to ensure all requirements are met and planned for at the best value for the company. This individual must be able to exhibit the values and culture of the company while working with mechanics and flight crews in a fast paced/dynamic environment.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the continuous updating of the Company’s Heavy Maintenance Plan for all aircraft and engines ensuring compliance with all scheduling requirements and regulatory/technical requirements for heavy checks in the most cost-effective manner;
  • Continuing optimization of Company maintenance program.
  • Ensuring the quality of Maintenance Program Manual (MPM) administration processes and procedures (e.g., currency, consistency, distribution, availability of the manual) and adherence to current regulatory and Company requirements.
  • Coordinating aircraft maintenance requirements with Company departments to ensure aircraft operational readiness.
  • Ensuring overall performance and maintaining and revising work instructions for the approved Maintenance Program.
  • Integrating new and previously operated aircraft into the applicable Maintenance Program.
  • Coordinating the development of program requirements and work documents for the operation of the Aircraft Storage Program.
  • Publishing and maintaining the Supplemental Structural Inspection Program.
  • Manage the development and administration of all maintenance programs to encompass the collection, analysis, and reporting of all statistical data and records necessary to support the CASS.
  • Develop and implement procedures and systems for the efficient planning of major maintenance, measurement of maintenance productivity, and management of engines and auxiliary power units (APUs).
  • Builds work packages for aircraft scheduled checks and other special maintenance events.
  • Research, maintain data, and monitor trends concerning aircraft maintenance, labor hours, span time, and other requirements.
  • Develop and manage all planning activities related to changes in aircraft fleets, including, but not limited to, aircraft acquisition (new and used), leasing, disposal, lease returns, aircraft painting, and modifications.
  • Develop a long-range plan for scheduled engine removals for effective utilization of spare engines and APUs.
  • Coordinate planned engine removals with EMP and ROP maintenance providers and engine and APU repair vendors.
  • Plan and schedule borescopes, inspections, and other time-controlled engine events.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work packages based on the availability of planned man hours to ensure minimum aircraft downtime and a balanced workload.
  • Coordinate the use of leased engines and APUs, monitoring their time in service and planning for their removal and return.
  • In response to changes in aircraft routing, plan and schedule workloads based on workforce and facility requirements, MELs, inspections/checks, time-controlled unit changes, deferred maintenance items, and repair/correction of items affecting the airworthiness of aircraft.
  • Plan weekend overnight maintenance workloads for maintenance stations, prepare work packages for overnight maintenance as required by aircraft routing swaps, and assist and make decisions regarding requests for scheduled maintenance by setting priorities for planned maintenance.
  • Reconcile the daily maintenance plan as aircraft swaps occur, reassign planned work, review the work plan with the manager of MOC, and initiate or maintain communications on planned maintenance assigned to out-stations to meet the demands of the workload.
  • Ensuring the Company provides safe, regulatory compliant, reliable, and on-time maintenance for Company aircraft.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  1. Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher education
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Three (3) years’ experience or more with maintenance programs and/or maintenance program control in a Part 121 environment required
  • Three (3) years’ experience or more with commercial aircraft and engine records requirements in a part 121 environment required; experience with 737 aircraft a plus
  • Proficient with accessing online aircraft manuals and other related publications
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and contract vendors required.
  • Ability to communication effectively; in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets the Company’s insurance standards
  • Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
