Job Description

The World Justice Project (WJP) is seeking a Senior Associate, Communications to create and promote engaging social media, web, and email content that cultivates and empowers a multidisciplinary movement to advance the rule of law around the world. The position is based in Washington, D.C., and will report to the Director of Media and Content Strategy.

We seek a strong writer and versatile content creator who is creative, analytical, collaborative, and has a keen interest in digital trends, public policy, and current affairs around the world. This talented communicator will manage WJP’s social media channels and email communications; measure and grow WJP’s digital followings and engagement; and create, source, and post a regular flow of content that makes the World Justice Project’s rich data, research, convenings, and thought leadership resources more accessible and actionable.

The Communications Senior Associate will be a key member of a global communications team working to build WJP’s brand while sharing knowledge, building awareness, and stimulating action to advance government accountability, human rights, access to justice, environmental justice, and other rule of law factors measured in the annual WJP Rule of Law Index.

Responsibilities

  • Manage WJP social media channels and email outreach.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and workflows to support them.
  • Design, execute, and measure digital campaigns that engage and grow WJP’s network, drive web traffic and event participation, and build donor support.
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, and other colleagues to develop compelling infographics and multimedia content for digital channels.
  • Pitch, research, write, post, and promote SEO-friendly blog content.
  • Measure and report on digital engagement and adjust tactics to advance goals.
  • Monitor social media for WJP mentions, peer network activity, and trends within target audience communities; engage when appropriate and opportune; report internally on key developments and trends.
  • Build relationships with social media colleagues at partner and allied organizations and with thought leaders within our networks who are active on social media.
  • Stay up to date on social media and digital campaign best practices, trends, and tools.
  • Provide social media training and coaching to WJP thought leaders.
  • Assist with other communications needs, such as audience research, presentations, events, knowledge management and internal communications.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in social media, communications and/or marketing-related roles
  • Experience managing social media platforms and analytics tracking/reporting
  • Superior writing skills; demonstrated ability to effectively tailor content for a variety of target audiences across a range of platforms
  • Strong creative skills and basic design knowledge/experience; experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, etc.) preferred
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with data analysis and facility with Excel preferred
  • Experience with digital campaign planning, management, and measurement
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and content management systems and experience with Google Analytics and SEO optimization preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment; ability to work independently as well as in group settings; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under deadline pressure
  • Interest in and knowledge of global justice issues; international experience preferred
  • Commitment to WJP’s mission and principles (www.worldjusticeproject.org).
  • Foreign language abilities preferred, especially Spanish
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Location

The position is based in the WJP Washington, DC office. WJP maintains a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule, with staff expected to work from the office at least three days per week.

Physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, this person will frequently be required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. This person may need to remain seated for long periods of time, have the ability to perform repetitive motions, grasp objects, including a writing instrument, stand, communicate verbally and hear well enough to detect nuances, and receive detailed information. This person may be required to walk, push or pull objects, bend, squat, reach, or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for extensive reading. Working Conditions

The work conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. This person will typically work indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels.
