JOB IDENTIFICATION
Job Title: Music Instructor
Grade: starting $25.00
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Department: Recreation

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Cultural Arts Manager
Supervises: N/A

BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for a variety of music classes including piano, voice, guitar, violin.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Supervise and lead private and group activity sessions.
2. Evaluates participant's progress and performance on a continual basis for the purpose of immediately helping the participant to improve their skills and confidence.
3. Communicate matters of importance with the Cultural Arts Manager.
4. Submit routine paperwork, such as Incident Reports, as they come due.
5. Enforce facility rules.
6. Work cooperatively as a team member with other program staff members.

OTHER DUTIES
1. Attend all pre-season in service training sessions and staff meetings.
2. Coordinate staff to direct patrons in the event of an emergency such as severe weather or fire.
3. Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals.
4. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Some High School

Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older

In depth experience in music
Previous experience teaching and working with kids ages 6 - 14
Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certified, Classes available through Park District upon hire
